As a student who owns a used car there are always arguments between wants and needs but remember we are students with limited money, so we are going to focus on qualities of used car for a student's needs .  1. Safety, is number when looking for a car for a student. Young drivers like to test the limits of speed, buying a car with high horsepower is only going to tempt the drive to use it. You want to look for a feature called ESC this is to help keep control of the car in slippery weather conditions.   2. Gas, when you think safety you think  big cars I don't suggest buying a bigger car because this is only going to lead to more gas money. Student are already under tight budgets and don't want to be putting in $60 of gas every week. 3. Insurance, Last but not least is paying for insurance. Insurance is a monthly payment that changes drastically depending on the car you are driving. Insurance is a high payment for teens and is a huge reason why more students don't own used cars. The colour of car, the number of doors, the amount of horsepower all affect the  monthly insurance rate you pay. Always look into what it's going to cost you to drive your used car per month before purchasing it.
